Literature Text

She smiled a sad smile in the dark that only the trees saw

Her hands limp at her side

She fell to her knees as her legs gave way

Looking desperately to the pitch sky

Her short brown hair flipped back

Flinging and catching stray specks of snow

No stars in sight, only the moonlight

Her glowing brown eyes shined

She cried, not tears of rage or tears of sadness

But, tears of joy and tears of madness

She was still there half frozen to death

When he saw her

He ran

His heart racing

Threatening to burst from his chest to get to her first

He left forgotten foot prints in the snow

Next to hers

She did not hear his approach

Nor did she feel the warm coat that was placed on her shoulders

Or the comforting smell of his scent

He felt deep in his heart

Her life was draining

Her breath was waning

He had to do something

He let out a cough

Searching for days

He dropped to his knees in front of her

He knew what was wrong

It finally happened

A silent tear dropped from his eye

Her mind was lost

He gathered her in his arms

But, the wind tumbled them over

He tried to get up

Fight through the pain

He held her hand tight

Snow cold on her back

Her glassy eyes cleared in realization

Nose to nose

They each blinked

She nuzzled her head into his chest

He held tight

Because they both knew

That they would soon die
I don't know what to say.

It's sad...but to me it's a happy ending...

I liked it, although I find the over-description of the girl to be unecessary;
"Short brown hair, glowing brown eyes." It's just a tad distracting, and with the short length of the story, no background info, (Which is OK) you really don't need to give any description of her, and if you must, you have to do it subtly, so that it fits with the flow of the story. ^^ Good plot, though.
